Press Release: Team Brady Secure Fifth in Jeddah Despite Technical Issue
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Saturday 25 January: Team Brady finished in a strong fifth place in Jeddah, overcoming persistent technical issues that affected the boat's performance throughout the weekend. Despite the challenge, the team secured solid points, earning 15 points for their fifth-place race finish, plus an additional three points for securing pole position, placing Team Brady fifth overall in the championship standings.
The weekend started well, Emma Kimiläinen drove a flawless qualifying race on Friday, securing Team Brady’s first pole position of the season. However, technical issues with one of the boat's foils worsened as the weekend progressed, which hindered Team Brady’s ability to fully maximize their speed. The foil issue increased drag in the water, forcing the pilots to adjust their driving technique throughout the weekend to compensate.
Looking ahead, Team Brady is preparing for the next round of the championship in Doha, Qatar on 21 and 22 February, a brand-new track for E1. As the team heads into new territory, they are focused on adapting and continuing to build on their hard work from round one.
Emma Kimiläinen, Team Brady Pilot said, “We had a tough time this weekend but I’m really proud that we made it to the finals. We really maximised all that we could with the situation that we had; we were losing three to four seconds a lap due to the foil issue. Despite that, I’m glad we can walk away with a solid amount of points, and the positive result we had on Friday, securing our second ever pole position. Tom bas been incredibly supportive all weekend and has been keen to understand the issues we’ve been facing. Now we look ahead to the next race in Doha, it will be a fun new challenge for the team.”
Sam Coleman, Team Brady Pilot said, "We worked as hard as we could to drive around the issues and as a result, we didn't quite have the pace this weekend. I gave it my all, I pushed a little too hard in some corners today and ended up airborne for a moment. But overall, it's been a good weekend, and we did some solid racing. We did everything we could with what we had, made it to the final, and came away with some strong points. That's something to be happy about. We know we have the speed, so now it's about ironing out the issues so we can keep moving forward and stay competitive."
